10 Tips to Make Winter Easier on Your Asthma

People with asthma, winter is a tough time. Don’t let the cold, dry air can worsen your asthma symptoms. To keep a handle on asthma attacks during the cold-weather months, here are 10 things you can do.

1. Wash your hands. Properly wash your hands with soap and water is one of simplest and best ways to avoid spreading or catching colds and other viruses. The importance of good hand washing to your children further reduces the risks of spreading germs around your house.

2. Get a flu shot. The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) recommends that the most people of 6 months and older get an annual flu shot to combat asthma attacks in winter.

3. Don’t sit by the fireplace. While sitting by the fire sounds lovely and cozy, it’s not so great for your asthma. Smoke can irritate your lungs, especially when you have asthma.
image4. Keep your mouth closed. Ideally, we should breathe through nose, not mouth, when we are out in the cold because the nose warms up the air for the lungs.

5. Check filters. When you first start your home heating system, it may blow dust and debris throughout your house, it’s not good for asthmatics. It’s important to clean and replace filters before turning on your system so as not to release the debris and trigger an asthma attack. Clean & check the filters periodically throughout the heating season to avoid issues with winter asthma. Also, try to keep the temperature and humidity levels in your home consistent.

6. Indoor Exercises. It is better to go to the gym instead of exercising outside when it is cold outside. “The temperatures and the humidity in the gym are less likely to cause a problem,” You can perform indoor exercises. Swimming is very good exercise for those who have asthma.

8. Take your medications. Work with your doctor or an asthma specialist to create an effective treatment plan & continue with regular checkups. Don’t let a busy work or social schedule cause you to ignore your health.

Keeping your asthma under control may take a little more effort in winters, but these strategies should get you through the season without worsened symptoms.

The rise of the urinary tract infection to kidneys can be fatal

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is a contamination in any part of your urinary system — your kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. Most infections include the lower urinary tract — the bladder and the urethra.

Females are at higher risk of having a UTI than males are. Infection restricted to your bladder can be aching and irritating. However, serious results can arise if a UTI reaches to your kidneys.

Symptoms of UTIs

Some of the symptoms of UTIs involve:

• Burning sensation while urinating
• A sensation that the bladder is not empty even after urinating
• Discomfort above the pelvic bone
• Urine contains blood.
• Need to urinate more regularly and immediately, if only a few drops

urinaryKidney infections can be fatal

If the infection spreads through the kidneys, quick medical care is needed. Apart from the common symptoms, a person having a kidney infection can also experience:

• Anxieties
• Illness
• Pain in lower abdominal
• Backache

Causes of UTIs

Generally, urine has a sterile nature that means it doesn’t hold any bacteria, fungus or viruses. To attack the urinary system, a bacteria generally has to arrive via urethra or, hardly, from the blood veins or arteries. Escherichia coli (E. coli), is the most common offender to the digestive tract. It is usually going to the urethra from the anus.

Other microbes, such as mycoplasma and chlamydia, can cause urinary tract infection in both males and females. These microbes are transmitted through sexual contact hence when these contaminations are identified, both companions need a medical cure to avoid re-infection.

utiRisk factors for developing UTIs

Some persons are at bigger risk than others of evolving UTIs. This include:

• Females – involved in sexual activities are susceptible, to some extent because the urethra is only a few cm long and bacteria have to cover the short distance to go from the exterior to the inner part of the bladder
• People using urinary drips – like who are seriously ill and can’t vacant their own bladder
• People with higher sugar levels or diabetes – variations to the immune system make a person suffering from diabetes more susceptible to infection
• Males with prostate issues – such as an inflamed prostate gland that cannot allow the bladder to completely empty
• Infants – particularly those born with physical difficulties such as congenital defects of the urinary system.

Treatments of UTIs

• Drink more water or consume more fluid
• Frequent urination and avoid holding it into the bladder
• Have Antibiotics prescribed by the doctor
• Pain relievers
• Wear cotton and loose clothes to promote air circulation and reduce bacteria growth.
• Putting heating pads across your abdominal area or back may relax the little pain.

Why should drug addicts go to rehab instead of jail?

Drug Abuse In Punjab

Directing drug-abusing state prisoners to community-based treatment programs instead of Incarceration could minimize crime and save a huge amount of money, a new investigation concludes. The savings would consequence from immediate drops in the cost of incarceration, and by successive drops in the figure of crimes done by effectively treated offenders, which leads to rarer re-arrests and re-incarcerations, according to the investigators.

Drug court organizations also have access to a variety of community-based support services that complement addiction rehab treatment.

Here are some of the services provided include:

Housing assistance
Parenting education
Mental health treatment
Vocational training

step0001These extra services are created to increase chances of a fruitful recovery from addiction by confirming needed fundamentals are made available to drug addicts. Some drug courts also have contact to other treatment-concerned programs, such as methadone preservation, detoxification and residential treatment for persons who need supplementary help during their regaining process.

Almost 50 percent of all state prisoners are drug addicts or abuses any substance, but only 10 percent got medically based drug treatment while they are imprisoned, according to research. Prisoners who are unprocessed or not sufficiently treated are more expected to start using drugs when they are free from prison, and commit crimes at a higher rate than those who do not abuse drugs.

Why should we support substance abuse treatment?

What does all of the data we’ve discussed add up to? What’s the take-out? Simply put, there are four reasons to support the use of substance abuse treatment over incarceration for drug use:

• Economic Savings
• Life Savings
• Crime Reduction
• A Better Future

The situation for treatment over incarceration is crystal clear. It’s phase to sponsor for change because, without it, our families, our societies, and our country will lose out on a better future. As the age-old proverb says:

“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch a fish, and you feed him for a lifestyle.”

Reasons of having an itching butt: Pilonidal Sinus

Pilonidal Sinus

A pilonidal sinus is a minor opening or pit that grows at the top of the bums where they join at the bottom of the coccyx (tailbone). This can cause a blister called a pilonidal blister also known as a pilonidal cyst.

Who develops pilonidal sinuses?

Pilonidal sinuses are most common in young adults and are hardly found in children or persons over 40 years old. It happens slightly more often in males than females and seems to happen more often in people with a lot of body hair.

Certain features increase the risk of evolving a pilonidal sinus comprising:
• Sitting for long periods, such as when driving
• Being overweight
• An earlier wound on the skin
• Personal hygiene problems
• Regular irritation of the skin
• Heredity problem
• Close-fitting clothing
• Friction
• Being hairier than normal
• Rougher, wavier body hair type

Pilonidal sinus symptoms

The symptoms of pilonidal sinus include:
• Boil-like cyst
• Tender cyst
• Pain
• Inflammation
• Soreness
• Smelly fluid
• Bleeding
• Fever
• Injury

How Are Pilonidal Sinuses Treated?

Initial Treatment

If your case is diagnosed at the first stage, you aren’t suffering from severe pain, and there’s no mark of inflammation, it’s likely that your doctor will recommend a broad-spectrum antibiotic that treats a wide collection of bacteria. It’s important to note that this won’t heal the sinus zone, but it will give you relief from the contamination and distress.

Before this process, your doctor will give you a local anesthetic. They will then use a scalpel to expose the lump. They will wipe away any hair, blood, and pus from inside the lump.

Phenol Injection

To treat the sinus, they will inoculate phenol, a chemical compound used as an antiseptic, into the lump. This technique may need to be recurrent several times. Ultimately, this treatment will cause the lesion to stabilize and close.

If you have a periodic PNS or if you have more than one sinus tract, your doctor will recommend a surgical procedure.
After surgery, your doctor will describe how to change the dressings and will recommend shaving the site to avoid hair from rising into the wound.
