Cellulitis: Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments

cellulitis

Cellulitis is an infectious disease of the dermis – the deep layer of skin – as well as the dermatological tissues that are under the skin.
Some types of bacteria are already present on the skin and do not usually cause any harm. However, if they go deep into the skin, they can cause an infection.

Causes of cellulitis

Streptococci and staphylococci groups are usually established on the surface of the skin and cause no damage, however, if they go into the skin they can cause infection.

For the bacteria to contact the deeper skin layers, they need a way. A disruption in the skin can be caused by:
• Ulcers
• Burns
• Bites
• Grazes
• Cuts
• Some skin conditions, such as eczema, athlete’s foot or psoriasis

Cellulitis causeSymptoms of cellulitis
While symptoms may seem in any part of the body, the legs are most commonly affected. The affected area will become:
• Warm
• Tender, inflamed
• Swollen
• Red
• Painful
Some patients may have blisters. The diseased person might also experience a fever, anxieties, vomiting, and trembling.

Treatments for cellulitis

The following treatments are commonly recommended for cellulitis:

• Medication: Cellulitis nearly always reacts quickly to antibiotics. Anyone who experiences fever, nausea, or worsening symptoms after having antibiotic treatment should contact their doctor immediately. The medication may be directed intravenously or by injection.
• Home remedies like drink sufficient amount of water and keep the affected area raised, this helps reduce swelling and pain.
treatment• Some patients with severe cellulitis may need hospital treatment, particularly if the cellulitis is worsening, if the patient has a high fever, vomiting, fails to react to treatment, or has reappearances of cellulitis.

Complications of cellulitis

In the most of the cases, cellulitis treatment is effective, and the patient will have no difficulties. A minor fraction of patients may have serious complications. The risk of complications is higher if the cellulitis is not treated.
• Blood infection and sepsis
• Infection moves to other regions
• Permanent swelling

Preventing cellulitis

Although some cases of cellulitis are not escapable, there are things people can do to reduce their chances of developing it.
• Treat cuts and grazes
• Decrease the probability of scratching and infecting the skin
• Take good care of the skin
• Reduce obesity
